The Right ‘Environment-Tile’ Choice

The Right ‘Environment-Tile’ Choice

Save Money and Lower Your Carbon Footprint.

With their demonstrated strength — passing tests for 120 mph winds and Class 4 hail storms — lightweight Bartile roofing tiles are indisputably durable, hence our 75-year warranty. However, a Bartile roof is also environmentally enlightened. Made from at least 50% recycled materials with all other raw materials locally sourced, the carbon footprint of a Bartile roof is reduced from the start. Even the waste from our tile manufacturing process is recycled. Further, the lifespan of a Bartile roof is not only some four times longer than an asphalt shingle roof — saving significant money over the long haul — but concrete roofing tiles are fully recyclable. Asphalt shingles, on the other hand, wind up clogging landfills to the tune of some 9 million tons a year.

In addition to their full recyclability, another environmental benefit is Bartile’s patented, built-in cold roof system. By naturally allowing the free flow of air between the tile and the roof deck with our ventilated battens, up to 50% of the heat is diverted away from the attic, typically lowering energy consumption by 22% with corresponding reductions in your utility costs and overall carbon footprint. Further, the free-flowing air not only has insulation properties, but also serves to dry underlying structures more quickly, thereby increasing the lifespan of a home. For these reasons, our lightweight roofing tiles meet LEED requirements, and we are proud that LEED Platinum Certified homes have chosen Bartile tiles for their roofing.
